Blizzard is reaching into the past to bring back an old boss for World of Warcraft with a brand-new look. Coming to the game for Patch 11.2’s Manaforge: Omega raid activity, Dimensius, the Void Lord is making a grand return, and he’s bulked up significantly.

As Blizzard teases a brand-new specialisation for Demon Hunter players that should be arriving in the near future, the MMORPG developer has also added the biggest boss in the history of WoW for players to square up against.

World of Warcraft Dimensius bulks up

First introduced in the 2007 WoW expansion Burning Crusade, Dimensius, the Void Lord made his debut as a puny, normal-sized boss not-quite fitting his “Void Lord” moniker.

However, with this upcoming update, WoW dataminers have found that not only has the boss been working on his gains for the past 18 years, but he’s bulked up to become the biggest boss the game has ever seen.

Dimensius, the Void Lord 2.0 stands at an absolutely massive 3,806 feet tall, according to the datamined model in the game files. For comparison, the new boss is so massive that he is taller than Stormwind; he’s a beautifully giant boy.

While Dimensius’ new form isn’t expected to release until 11.2 ships sometime in August, after the game’s PTR testing, Blizzard is already teasing the new boss. Speaking to WoWHead, lead encounter designer Drew De Sousa explained that players “haven’t seen a boss like this before”.

For comparison, before the new form of Dimensius, Blizzard’s biggest boss for World of Warcraft was—or technically still is—the Madness of Deathwing raid which sits at the final major boss encounter of Cataclysm. Deathwing is such a massive boss tha players are forced to stand on top of the massive dragon and smash his armour open before forcing him into a Maelstrom.

Dimensius’ return after 18 years is not only exciting, but also shows just how much life is still left in WoW. 18 years is an entire childhood gone, but the MMORPG is still going strong with no signs of stopping. Isn’t that beautiful?
