Blizzard’s work on World of Warcraft has been hit with mixed reception for a while now with extremely buggy update launches and old content being left in the dust.
As it turns out, WoW’s upcoming 11.2 Ghosts of K’aresh update appears to be focusing on a long underserved class, Demon Hunters.
World of Warcraft teases new specialisation
First introduced in 2016’s Legion expansion, the Demon Hunter class currently has just two specialisations. As the only class left in the game with only two to choose from, many have claimed that Blizzard has simply abandoned the almost-decade-old class.
However, it seems that Demon Hunter players are finally set to receive some love in the upcoming World of Warcraft update.
In the new Ghosts of K’aresh First Look video, Blizzard showed gameplay of the update’s new Manaforge Omega raid. In the raid, players face off against three rival Demon Hunters with one sporting a brand-new specialisation that has never been released for players.
The alleged new Demon Hunter specialisation sees the NPC dripped out with beautiful purple gear and dual-glaives glowing with powerful Void energy. Standing between the already existing Havok and Vengeance specialisations, it seems like a third specialisation is on the way.
WoWHead, a popular WoW blog, believes that the upcoming Midnight expansion will introduce new specialisations instead of a single new class. This would mean that Demon Hunter would get new options while other classes will finally get their fourth specialisation.
Prior to the upcoming Demon Hunters update, if it actually happens, the last class to get its third specialisation was the Evoker class, first added to WoW in 2022 alongside the Dragonflight expansion. As you can see, it’s been a very long wait for Demon Hunters to finally get their third specialisation in Blizzard’s messy-but-beloved MMO.
Evoker’s third specialisation hasn’t really helped the class boost in popularity, though. Despite its recent love from Blizzard, Evoker is still considered the least popular class in the game with considerably more players enjoying their time as Demon Hunters. It only makes sense then that the more popular class finally gets some attention sometime this year.
