Sony Computer Entertainment’s WipEout HD made its debut at Games Convention 2007 last week, showcasing its 1080p high definition visuals, 60-frames-per-second motion, online play and motion control.

WipEout HD will feature a selection of the best tracks taken from previous versions of the franchise, each fully reworked to showcase the processing power of the PS3. For the first time these classic tracks can be navigated with motion control using the Sixaxis controller and for the ultimate challenge players can take the action online to compete against players the world over.

The game will feature eight race teams and seven game modes: Single Race, Tournament, Time Trial, Speed Lap, Zone Mode, Elimination and Head 2 Head. The audio has also been turned up a notch with nine licensed tracks all remixed in Dolby 5.1.

Post launch extra content is also promised and will include extra teams, tracks and additional events for the campaign mode.

WipEout HD will be released exclusively on the PlayStation Store late in 2007.
