Retro resurrection specialist Dotemu has announced that Windjammers 2 will also be coming to Xbox consoles, alongside its previously announced PlayStation, PC and Switch versions.
The studio also confirmed that players will be able to enjoy crossplay between the Xbox and PC versions of the game. PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 versions meanwhile, will be able to play together cross-gen.
Today’s news blast also includes the reveal of two more characters. First off, Sammy Ho is a gardener and budding star athlete from China. He’ll have mid-range agility skills, and a special move that channels the power of a dragon. Then we’ve got returning ‘Jammer Jordi Costa. He’s got a slide that can cross the entire court, and a big strength stat for powerful throws.
Just in case you’re not up to speed, Windjammers 2 is a sequel to the classic 1994 Neo Geo game. You’ll get to take part in a sort of extreme frisbee tennis, with each character having a range of fighting-game style moves at their disposal.
You can check out a trailer for the two new characters, and the game’s arrival on Xbox, below. It’s also worth noting the game will also be available on launch via Xbox Game Pass for console and PC, though there’s still no exact release date yet.
For now, Windjammers 2 is pencilled in for a 2021 release on Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
