Every story needs a good villain and Destiny 2 Lightfall has just that. With the Guardians now set to face off against the main antagonist of The Light and Darkness Saga, many are wondering just who exactly the enemy is going to be.

Who will be the main antagonist of Destiny 2 Lightfall?
The villain of Destiny 2 Lightfall is none other than The Witness, who has long been a thorn in Guardians’ sides. This evil, omnipotent being has often been teased as the main antagonist of the entire Light and Darkness Saga after being mentioned in Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, and, finally, in The Witch Queen.

The Witness was also heavily featured in the recent launch trailer of Lightfall, wherein it could be seen walking through space while scattered pieces of debris floated all around it. It would then go on to address the Guardians that sought to face it after which scenes of an intergalactic battle was then shown. The bright city of Neomuna can also be seen throughout the trailer since this is the location that The Witness and its minions are targeting.
It’s currently unknown if Lightfall will indeed feature a battle against The Witness itself, since a follow-up expansion – and the finale to the Light and Darkness Saga – has already been announced. Nevertheless, we can tell that the expansion will feature a landscape-changing war that will surely influence future chapters.
