Roger Hill, who player gang leader Cyrus in the movie, is suing Rockstar and Take-Two, claiming Rockstar had no right to use his likeness in the video game. Apparently Rockstar approached Hill with a deal to use his voice and name in the game, but this was rejected and that was the last he heard of the matter.
Take-Two don’t think they’ve done anything wrong – a spokesperson telling New York Daily News that the company “has a valid third-party license for the rights to use Roger Hill’s likeness and the character of Cyrus in The Warriors videogame and related marketing materials.“
Hill sees things a little differently and wants $250,000 from Take-Two, plus a court order banning the publisher from using his likeness. According to Hill, Take-Two shouldn’t have too much trouble digging up the money as the game has earned the publisher around $37 million.
