The arrival of the Illuminate in Helldivers 2 shook the very foundations of Arrowhead‘s multiplayer game. With terrifying new enemies to battle, players were left scrambling to create new strategies just to survive.
While many players may think they’re safe now that they’ve learned how to combat the game’s newest enemies, Arrowhead is working on even more devious foes for you to fight.
Helldivers 2 Illusionist leak
Following leaks of horrifying new Automaton enemies coming in a future update, renowned leaker IronS1ghts has revealed a dangerous upcoming foe for the Illuminate.
Dubbed the Illusionist, this enemy is a returning foe from the original top-down game. Found on high-level missions, these aliens sit in floating chairs and confuse players, changing their controls as they try to fight.
It’s not known if this classic confusion mechanic will return in Helldivers 2. However, in a recent post on social media, IronS1ghts revealed that taking out an Illusionist could have dire consequences for all involved.
The leaker explains that the Illusionist enemy is “very strong”, an almost boss-like encounter for the Illuminate faction. After killing the new enemy, the Illusionist’s chair will begin to self-destruct, taking out any diver still nearby.
Furthermore, the explosion effect is “massive” with players being able to see the blast from across the map. The explosion itself appears to be localised to a parking lot-sized box, giving divers some time to escape before detonation.
Alongside the Illusionist, other Illuminate units are also coming to the game with their own mission types. It’s not known when they will be added, but considering how Arrowhead waited to add the illuminate until they could deliver a massive update, it may be a while yet.
