Valorant is an extremely popular mutliplayer shooter that has become even bigger since its launch on consoles earlier this year. While the game is already excellent, Riot Games are continually looking to improve the experience with new content. This typically includes new agents and maps, but a Valorant leak has unearthed a mega new feature that is “in development” for all players across console and PC.
The Valorant community has a lot to anticipate. Riot has recently shared the update 9.09 patch notes, and we also have the Episode 9 patch schedule up until mid-December. As for future changes to the multiplayer experience, there are plans to transition from UE4 to Unreal Engine 5, and this is a move that could “expand the Val universe into new playable experiences” in the future.
While we have the switch to Unreal Engine 5 to anticipate, fans can also look forward to the introduction of a feature already present in League of Legends: gifting.
Leak reveals gifting is coming to Valorant
ValorLeaks has revealed on X that “Gifting is coming to Valorant”. According to Mike, the feature is currently “in development,” and it will “be available on both console and PC”.
Although the specifics are unknown as of writing, players “will have the ability to either gift specific items or bundles”.
While we do not yet know the specifics, it will presumably work similar to the system in place for League of Legends. In LoL, there are two ways to send gifts to other players with one way through the store and another through the social panel in the LoL client.
There’s no ETA on when gifting will be introduced to Valorant, so players shouldn’t expect it to arrive immediately. It will also be interesting to see if gifts can be sent across all platforms.
Crossplay is available, but it is restricted to PS5 and Xbox only. However, there is cross-progression, and this is available across all systems meaning PS5, Xbox, and PC.
