Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 makes it three weeks at the top of the All Formats All Prices UK video game chart, preventing Ubisoft’s Far Cry 3 from taking the No.1 position despite being the ninth biggest launch of 2012 – just behind Square Enix’s Hitman: Absolution.

FIFA 13 charts at No.3, Hitman: Absolution drops to No.4 and Assassin’s Creed 3 slides one place to No.5. Just Dance 4 moves up one place to No.6, LEGO The Lord of the Rings is at No.7 and Halo 4 slips to No.8. Skylanders Giants charts at No.9, with a four per cent week-on-week increase, and Need for Speed: Most Wanted is at No.10.

The Wii U has three new entries in the Top 40, with Nintendo Land the highest placed at No.11, followed by New Super Mario Bros. U at No.14 and ZombiU at No.17.

Titles with a new Wii U version included, Black Ops 2 (1 per cent of sales on Wii U), Assassin’s Creed 3 (3 per cent of sales on Wii U), Just Dance 4 (3 per cent of sales on Wii U), and Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (38 per cent of sales on Wii U).

The relatively low sales of multi-platform titles for Wii U can’t come as a great surprise given many early adopters are the type of gamer likely to have already purchased triple-A games – Assassin’s Creed 3, Black Ops 2 and FIFA 13 – on Xbox 360 or PS3.

Far Cry 3’s success is difficult to judge, but selling fewer copies than Hitman: Absolution’s launch total – a title with a substantially lower metacritic – will be a hard pill to swallow for Ubisoft. The publisher must now be hoping that strong word of mouth will help the game hold on in the Top 10 for many weeks to come.
