Ubisoft has confirmed the existence of Project Q, a multiplayer team battle arena game currently in production.

The announcement came over the weekend from the official Ubisoft account. While details are scant at this early stage, the tweet reveals the game is “a team battle arena letting players truly own the experience”. Apparently, the game is not a Battle Royale, but will “feature a variety of PvP modes with one single goal in mind: fun”.

Though the game is in early development, Ubisoft is already throwing open its doors asking for playtesters. Footage from the game had leaked online, seemingly forcing the publisher’s hand into the announcement. As reported by Tom Henderson via Exputer, the game already features two modes. As a twist, rather than guns, it seems the game lets players attack with items like fireworks, sticks and paintguns.

Interestingly enough, the thread also makes a note to declare that Ubisoft doesn’t have plans to add NFTs to the game. It’s a declaration that’s been met with scepticism by fans, given the company’s recent Ubisoft Quartz initiative. We’ll have to wait and see if they remain true to their word.

For now, you can sign up to help test Project Q over here. There’s no date for the tests or indeed, the full release just yet. However, judging from the sign-up page the game does seem to be landing on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC.
