Who’s making the Twisted Metal TV show?

The show is coming from Michael Jonathan Smith (Chozen, I Own You, Cobra Kai) who serves as the series’ showrunner/head writer and one of its executive producers.

He is joined by fellow writers, Rhett Rheese (Zombieland, Deadpool, 6 Underground) and Paul Wernick (Zombieland, Deadpool, 6 Underground), who pitched the story the show is working from, and who will serve as executive producers as well.

Additionally, stars Anthony Mackie, and Will Arnett will also serve as executive producers on the show, along with show director, Kitao Sakurai, Electric Avenue’s Marc Forman, Inspire Entertainment’s Jason Spire, Artists First’s Peter Principato, PlayStation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan, and Head of PlayStation Studios, Herman Hulst.

What is the story for the Twisted Metal TV show?

Per an official press release from Peacock back in February 2022 announcing production on the show:

Twisted Metal, a half-hour live-action TV series based on the classic PlayStation game series, is a high-octane action comedy, based on an original take by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool, Zombieland) about a motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland,

With the help of a trigger-happy car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.”

When Does The Show Release?

While no official release date has been confirmed yet. In light of the news that shooting on the first season of the show wrapped on 27/08/2022. There’s a good chance that the show will be released between April 2023 and August 2023 as this allows time for Post Production (adding CG visual effects, editing, colour grading, ADR, and music scoring) to be finished up on the show ready for release.

Where Can I Watch The Show?

At the moment, the show is intended to be a Peacock exclusive release. So, in order to watch the show you will either need to have a Peacock subscription, or have a subscription to a streaming service that includes Peacock as part of its package such as NOW TV in the UK and Ireland.
