True Crime will finally see a release this August under the new title of Sleeping Dogs and published by Square Enix, a Tweet and picture from Canadian retailer FutureShop has suggested.

Tweeting from the PlayStation Destination event in Arizona, the retailer revealed: "#squareenix reveals #sleepingdogs August 2012. PS3, X360, PC. Pre-Order Soon."

While the game hasn't been officially confirmed as the retitled True Crime Hong Kong, artwork suggests this to be the case.

Last year Square Enix announced the acquisition of the game, though the name remains the property of Activision.

"When we first saw and got our hands on the game we fell in love with it," Square Enix London Studios general manager Lee Singleton explained.

Singleton also praised the "incredible new game engine, rich new story with deep and complex characters, and gameplay features which have simply never been seen at this level in an open world game."

Vancouver-based United Front Games is handling development under the supervision of Square Enix London Studios.
