Creators of the fantastic RPG/FPS Vampire – The Masquerade: Bloodlines Troika are the subject of heavy speculation surrounding their imminent closure.

According to a number of sources, including the lead programmer of the Vampire team, Troika has been working with a “skeleton crew” since around November of last year and an announcement regarding the future of the company was expected at the beginning of February. Towards the end of the month we still haven’t had any official word from Troika co-founder Leonard Boyarsky.

An announcement is still expected by the end of the month, but all reports are pointing to the closure of the company – with staff already jumping ship to companies like Activision, Obsidian Entertainment and Treyarch.

Another month, another company (possibly) goes under. It’s a real shame if true, and it would be sad to see the indie developer go. We’ll report more as we get it.
