Trans Baldur’s Gate 3 players can now be properly represented with surgery scars mod

New Baldur’s Gate 3 mods are bringing proper representation for trans players in the form of top surgery scars. With BioWare’s Dragon Age: Veilguard allows trans males, or cancer survivors, to don surgery scars on their chest, talented modders have added the same functionality to Larian’s RPG.

A new mod pack on the ever-popular Nexus Mods allow players to add top surgery scars for player characters in Larian’s RPG. Designed to work with Variety Framework, the mod can be used across any subrace in the game, allowing players to more freely represent themselves.

Available here on Nexus, the mod includes traditional, real-world style surgery scars as well as some fancier options for those who like a bit of flair. The mod also works across hairy and non-hairy character bodies, and even adds hairy chests to Tiefling bodies.

Moddeer Jawstarion has explained that the scar collection is still in progress, and more scars and other customisation options will arrive in future versions. Future versions of the mod will include “transfemme scars” for players who want those options.

While the mod will undoubtedly rub the wrong people the wrong way, it’s an entirely optional, separate download designed for players who want extra options in their character creator. Just like players control the buttons they press, they also control the mods they download—if you don’t want it, don’t buy it.

An endless supply of mods

In the year since the game’s official release, Baldur’s Gate 3 has been absolutely swamped in mods, especially with the release of official mod tools across PC and mod support on console. There have been mods to add Twitch integration to the game, mods to add cut content back into the RPG and even add working Pokeballs to the RPG.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is a modification haven the likes of which are typically reserved for Bethesda games, and it’s only going to continue.
