Accelerate Games has announced a delay to its Nintendo Switch release of remastered XBLA classic Toy Soldiers HD.

The developer announced the last-minute hold-up via its Twitter account. “We regret to inform you that we must hold the release of Toy Soldiers HD for Nintendo Switch for a bit longer,” the statement read. “Although we passed extensive quality assurance testing it was discovered that the game’s software is not communicating properly with the consumer version of the console when in multiplayer mode.”

Accelerate has said it’s working with its partners on a fix, but stopped short of offering an ETA. Toy Soldiers HD had a similarly rocky journey to release last year on other formats. The game was first pegged to arrive in August of 2021 on PS4, Xbox One and PC. However, it was delayed three times more, first to each end of September and finally once more to October.

In case you’re unfamiliar, Toy Soldiers HD is a hybrid tower-defence strategy game. Players control a diminutive army of World War I-themed troops in combat across toy diorama battlefields. Soon enough, other themed toys jump in the battle, including aliens and more. As the match progresses, players can take direct control of units to take out their enemy.

At the time of writing, there’s no new date for Toy Soldiers HD on Nintendo Switch. Accelerate has said they’ll keep fans informed via their social media accounts.
