Tomb Raider is one of the greatest video game franchises of all time with Lara Croft one of the most iconic characters. We haven’t had a new adventure starring England’s leading lady since 2018, but the good news is that fans will be able to binge her Netflix series tomorrow. The release date and time countdown for when the Tomb Raider Netflix series will come out is nearly over, and here you will discover how many episodes there are along with details pertaining to the plot and characterisation of everyone’s favorite explorer.

It’s been a busy couple of years for Lara Croft. Although she hasn’t starred in a new video game since 2018, she has entered the worlds of Call of Duty, Magic The Gathering, and, more recently, Dead By Daylight. Earlier this year, fans were also treated to the incredible Remastered trilogy taking us back to Lara’s first three original adventures from the glory days of the PS1.

Now Tomb Raider fans have the Netflix series ready to binge. The release date and time is set for tomorrow, and all of the episodes will be available right away.

Tomb Raider Netflix series release date

The release date for Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft on Netflix is October 10th. This is confirmed on the series’ official web page.

It takes place after the events of Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and Lara Croft is now voiced by Hayley Atwell instead of Camilla Ludington from the survivor trilogy. The series will also see the return of Jonah, and there will be call-backs to the beginnings of the survivor trilogy on Yamatai.

The goal of the series is to finally transition Lara from the survivor trilogy into the Tomb Raider that made her first appearance in 1996. Some examples of this can be seen in the trailer such as her rocking the dual pistols, which she did only once in the survivor trilogy for a very brief moment.

When does the Tomb Raider Netflix series come out?

The release time for when the Tomb Raider Netflix series will come out is 12AM PT/3AM ET/8AM BST on October 10th.

Per the streaming service’s help page, “Netflix original TV shows and movies are typically released globally at 12:00 a.m. Pacific Time”. The Legend of Lara Croft is a Netflix original as symbolized by the red ‘N’ on the show’s official cover art.

Countdown

Below is a countdown to when the series will launch:

How many episodes?

There are eight episodes in total. Similar to other series on Netflix, you will be able to watch all eight episodes right away should you so wish.

Each episode will only last 22-minutes, so you should be able to binge the series in just under three hours. As for what will unfold, the series’ story depicts Lara in pursuit of a powerful Chinese artifact that was stolen from her home, Croft Manor.

She will go on a globe trotting adventure that should bridge the gap between survivor trilogy and classic Lara. We will see her rocking iconic dual pistols, she will become an action hero once more riding about on her motorcycle like Tom Cruise, and she will display a wide variety of combat styles such as performing a hurricanrana from lucha libre wrestling.

In addition, the showrunner has hinted that the Netflix series will contain teases for the next Tomb Raider game. There is a new game in-development at Crystal Dynamics, and all we know so far is that it stars a unified Lara Croft, uses Unreal Engine 5, and will be published by Amazon Games.
