Japanese gamers have been gorging themselves on ‘next-gen’ Tetris for the Xbox 360 since the console launched in Japan back in December. Western Xbox 360 gamers are still waiting for a slice of the block falling pie, but THQ looks set to satisfy the craving.

THQ has obtained the rights to publish a Tetris game for the Xbox 360 in territories outside of Japan. This will be the first Tetris game the company has published since Tetris Worlds on the Xbox in June, 2003. THQ and The Tetris Company entered into a legal battle over the puzzler in 2005 – THQ having sued The Tetris Company on claims that it broke deals with the publisher and stopped the planned release of a THQ published Tetris game for the DS.

The two companies settled late last year, and the Xbox 360 publishing agreement is the only part of the deal to be made public. Specific details of the game and release date have not been revealed.
