This GTA 5 conversion mod lets you explore Miami ahead of GTA 6’s release

GTA 6 is still a while off yet, with the expected release date being in late 2025. After 12 years in Los Santos dating back to the Xbox 360 and PS3, players are more than ready to wave goodbye to GTA 5 and explore a brand new map filled with the usual wacky and unusual characters that can be found in any entry in the series. 

Although there is still more than a year to go before GTA 6 is released, this new conversion mod will take you to Miami, the city that Vice City is based on, and allow you to get a feel for what to expect when Rockstar Games’ next title hits stores. The Sunship Dream mod is a total conversion map for GTA. This mod brings Miami over from Driv3r, allowing you to explore the city at your leisure. 

Unfortunately, there aren’t any missions to take part in, but it does feature many of the locations from Driv3r including the Gold Coast Hotel, Miami Beach PD, Tanner’s Safehouse, and many other places to explore. The mod also includes traffic, pedestrian navigation, upscaled textures by 4x, custom radio stations, and basic scripting. With the Driver series being dormant since 2011, and Driv3r dating back to 2004 with no modern port, this could help scratch the itch for both GTA and Driver fans.

For players that want to step things up further, GTA Roleplaying has become incredibly popular over the past few years, with players living out the lives of citizens from Los Santos, with people taking on jobs such as police officers, garbage men, gardeners, cashiers, and any other job you can think of. 

Rockstar Games released the first GTA 6 trailer back in December 2023 and since then have been quiet and no new information has been revealed regarding the game. But, that hasn’t stopped some controversy from arising, although would you expect anything less from GTA? The ‘Florida Joker’ has been on a campaign for many months to be compensated for being parodied in the trailer, but so far has been unsuccessful. It has also been revealed that GTA 6 won’t see a PC release at launch, although this is common practice for the GTA series. Instead, PC gamers will have to play GTA 6 on PS5 or Xbox Series X if they don’t want to wait a year or two to finally get their hands on the game.
