Helldivers 2 isn’t an easy game, I often liken it to Dark Souls with guns. It is easy to get overwhelmed and in over your head when it comes to taking on the endless hordes of Automatons and Terminids. But, all it takes is some small tweaks and you could be in a better position to serve Liber-tea across the galaxy.
U/Complete-Koala-7517 took to the Helldivers 2 sub-Reddit to give some advice to players who may be struggling with the game, especially at higher difficulties.
In the post, they said “There is not a single enemy that doesn’t have at least a handful of stratagems that are excellent at killing them. Struggling with Behemoth Chargers? Have one or two guys run a Flamethrower. Gunships causing you issues? Have someone take Autocannon, Spear, or HMG/HMG emplacement.”
Although sometimes it can be a skill issue, which is not a bad thing as everyone plays at different levels, you shouldn’t try to play at a level that is too hard just to try and keep up, it can be as simple as optimizing your load-out.
They continued the post by saying “If you find yourself routinely running into situations that you can’t handle you either need to adjust your loadout, actually stay with your team, or go to a lower difficulty until you improve,” noting that “Helldive isn’t for everyone; that’s why it’s called Helldive.”
U/PolyFruit took to the replies to emphasize the importance of teamwork by saying that the “Best squads I’ve played with are just that: a squad. Covering each other during heated fights, target prioritization to ensure heavies are dealt with quickly, alternating between stratagems and gun fighting, a mixture of supports and stratagems, and most significantly they stay together!”
With Helldivers 2 evolving on a regular basis as new updates are released along with Warbonds and Stratagems, it can be difficult to keep up with the current meta or what works for you. If this is something you are experiencing, try different weapons and see if something works for you. Just because many players use the Breaker Incendiary Shotgun for the Terminids, it doesn’t mean that it will be the right choice for you.
