The VideoGamer.com Podcast emerged victorious at last night’s Games Media Awards, taking the prize in the Games Radio and Podcast category.

I think it’s safe to say we’re all fairly surprised by the win. Martin, who won VG’s first GMA last year, initiated our celebration by lifting me into the air with a bear hug that would have done Zangief proud. Matt and Dave then joined us as we took to the stage, where I spluttered though a brief and rather bewildered thank you speech.

I’d be lying if I said I was at my articulate best last night, so here in the cold (hungover) light of day, I’d like to express my gratitude properly, on behalf of all of us here.

Thank you for voting for us this year, and thank you for all the support you’ve given us over the past four years. Thank you for the comments, the jokes, the jingles, the insanely long stories, the brilliantly odd questions, and the carefully-constructed posters for Backstroker: The Movie. Thank you for listening to our show. Know that we are hugely grateful, now and always.

Speaking personally, it still spins my head that I get paid to sit in a room with my friends, talking utter b*llocks and interacting with you lot. For us to get an award for doing that… well, it’s just wonderful.

And hey, if you’ve yet to hear our show: here’s a link.

Also, congratulations to all of last night’s other winners. Eurogamer picked up Best Website for a super-impressive sixth year in a row, while Christian Donlan, Simon Parkin, and Matthew Reynolds were among the winning writers.
