Naughty Dog has quickly followed up their recently released PC patch for The Last of Us Part 1 with another update that addresses the performance issues present on Windows systems.

This latest system improvement, along with the one released on March 29, has seemingly fixed most of the prevalent problems that users had been experiencing. To give you an idea of the exact enhancements that the developers have made, we’ll be taking a closer look at the patch notes below.

The Last of Us Part 1 PC v1.0.1.6 Patch Notes
According to a blog post from Naughty Dog themselves, “this update addresses fixes that improve memory, performance, and more.” You can read about the specifics for yourselves below:
- Decreased PSO cache size to reduce memory requirements and minimize Out of Memory crashes
- Added additional diagnostics for developer tracking purposes
- Increased animation streaming memory to improve performance during gameplay and cinematics
- Fix for crash on first boot

The developers would go on to note that they are “closely watching player reports to support future improvements and patches.” Apparently, they are also currently tracking other known issues that include a potential memory leak, degrading performance and stability while shaders are loading, and many more.
These immediate updates provided has naturally been received positively by the previously frustrated player base since the bugs that were present essentially made the game unplayable at launch. Although some problems still seem to persist within, such as the prolonged loading time for shaders, it seems like many users are increasingly becoming satisfied with the current state of the game.
