A PlayStation UK representative has said that The Last of Us Part II will not be shown at Madrid Games Week, contrary to previous reports (via Video Games Chronicle).

Earlier this week, a Spanish PlayStation Blog post stated that The Last of Us Part II would be exhibited at Madrid Games Week, along with other upcoming titles like Concrete Genie, the MediEvil remake, and Nioh 2. But it turns out that this was in fact an error. A PlayStation UK representative confirmed that The Last Of Us Part II will not be playable at the event, nor will it be exhibited in any form.

But, that’s alright, though. A The Last of Us 2 media event is set for September 24, and will shed a little light on what to expect from the anticipated sequel. The story will take place five years after the events of the first game, and instead players will take on the role of Ellie. Filming of the game’s final scene wrapped in April, and it may release some time in February next year.
