Publisher Forever Entertainment has announced their The House of the Dead: Remake will release on April 7 on Nintendo Switch.

The publisher partnered with Sega to undertake this remake in a similar fashion to DotEmu’s recent Streets of Rage 4. MegaPixel Studio is on development duties, previously working on 2020’s Panzer Dragoon Remake. Once more, you’ll be stepping into the Curien Mansion and blasting hordes of the undead in this reimagining of the 1997 arcade lightgun classic.

Expect “true to the original” gameplay, modernised graphics and controls and multiple endings. However, there’s also a few new additions too, including a photo mode, achievements and a brand new game mode. Elsewhere, you’ll find a gallery with encountered enemies and an armoury with unlockable weapons. The game also supports 2 player local multiplayer for that authentic arcade experience.

The remake was first reported back in September 2019 by Polish outlet Graczpospolita. The Forever Entertainment team would clarify themselves a few months later that they’ve also agreed to give the sequel, The House of the Dead 2, a similar treatment. Stay tuned for more news on that one in the future.

For now, check out a new trailer for the House of the Dead: Remake below. It arrives exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on April 7.
