The First Descendant developer, Nexon, has been really good at communicating with players. One of TFD’s biggest strengths since launch has been Nexon’s ability to adapt and change based on feedback from the community. While it is not possible for them to implement everything fans want, The First Descendant developer has addressed a highly-requested feature that has made Hailey so beloved but also “challenging”.

TFD fans have the launch of Season 2 to anticipate. It is scheduled to start on December 5th, and the 2024 roadmap lists all of the content set to arrive. Nexon has just shared a new Season 2 feature that was “kept secret for a surprise reveal,” and the developer has also previously teased exciting plans for Season 2 and beyond.

On the game’s Discord, Nexon has been responding to questions from The First Descendant community. Some of the answers are a simple yes and no, while others are more complicated such as in regard to body diversity.

The First Descendant dev responds to body diversity feedback

A common request from The First Descendant community is more diversity amongst the bodies of the character models. This isn’t players wanting characters that are more reflective of society and thus realistic, instead it’s fans craving more variety so characters look less identical in every department but the face.

Hailey is a great example of this. She was introduced at the start of Season 1, and she’s instantly become a fan-favorite. She is a cool character with her own unique abilities, but one of the aspects that makes her stand out from the other playable characters the most is her unique proportions.

On The First Descendant Discord, producer TFD_PD_Lee was asked if Nexon will introduce more body types to the game. In response, producer Lee acknowledged “I’m well aware of the feedback about the lack of body type diversity, as it’s something we hear often”.

The developer said “While I can’t promise immediate changes, I’m keeping it in mind and will work towards gradual improvements”.

As an example of body diversity, the producer pointed out “Hailey was intentionally designed with body variation from the start”. This has been a huge success as evidenced by Hailey’s popularity, but for Nexon it has also been “challenging with each skin release”.

While the challenges are understandable, the good news is that Lee is “considering this aspect for upcoming successors,” meaning playable characters.
