A film based on the timeless Tetris video game is being created by Threshold Entertainment and the Tetris Company.

The live-action film has no director or actors attached, but a story is in place.

"It's a very big, epic sci-fi movie," Threshold's CEO Larry Kasanoff told Speakeasy. "This isn't a movie with a bunch of lines running around the page. We're not giving feet to the geometric shapes."

Kasanoff previously brought Mortal Kombat to cinemas in 1995.

"Brands are the new stars of Hollywood," added Kasanoff. "We have a story behind Tetris which makes it a much more imaginative thing."

If the film proves a success Kasanoff has ideas for additional "location-based entertainment based on the epicness".
