Side-scrolling 2D Minecraft-clone Terraria will release worldwide on Nintendo 3DS next Thursday, December 10, 505 Games has announced.

The game will be available digitally via the Nintendo eShop for £16.99, with a retail version to follow in early 2016. Digital and physical Wii U versions, meanwhile, are still on track to launch early next year.

The 3DS version of Terraria will let players build structures and fight enemies using the game's touchscreen, and is said to offer "the ideal introduction to the franchise for the young and old player alike". There may even be "a few Nintendo surprises in store, too", 505 says, and if you'd rather play with friends, local 4-player multiplayer is also supported.

You can check out what it looks like in the trailer below.

Terraria first launched on PC back in 2011, before being ported to almost every format going, including Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, Xbox One and mobile. 505 previously described the PS4 port as the "ultimate console version".
