Nintendo has released a new patch for The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, and it’s bad news if you’ve been using the popular item duplication glitch.
The patch notes for version 1.1.2 were just as brief as the first lot, only mentioning some minor fixes with audio and quest bugs, along with the vague ‘several issues’ note that doesn’t betray too much detail. However, players logging on to their game since the patch dropped including PhillyBeatzU on YouTube have now reported that they are no longer able to dupe items via any of the existing methods, including the original bow trick and shield surfing trick – as well as those that would allow you to duplicate one-off items like the Hylian Shield.
Players who have come to rely on the glitch have been advised to head into their Switch system menu and uncheck the auto-update setting for the game to prevent the update from downloading, should they want to carry on using these methods to duplicate items. Otherwise, you’ll just have to play as Nintendo originally intended.
Most of the previous methods required opening and closing the inventory, so that’s believed to be where the fix in question has been deployed – and so those stepping out into Tears of the Kingdom are currently having to obtain items the old fashioned way, while the community keeps their eye out for other ways to make their journey in Hyrule easier.
We can help there, at least – with our extensive Tears of the Kingdom guides such as our list of the best Tears of the Kingdom weapons or we can help you find out are there any Tears of the Kingdom unbreakable weapons? If that’s not enough – check out our guide to all 15 Skyview Tower locations.
In the meantime, here’s the 1.1.2 patch notes in full, care of Nintendo Support.
