One Madden 24 found a rare talent in the NFL draft on franchise mode. Upon drafting them, they saw they had several excellent attributes with one that was frustratingly low. Their injury rating was a 30, which is exceptionally low. They were otherwise a very good player, and the post got the community discussing the prospect, the real-life equivalents, and the merits of the injury rating in this game.

u/geezynfl shared to Reddit that they spent the third overall pick on a generated rookie named Kyle Session. The cornerback prospect was an 84 overall, which is very high. It’s the highest any rookie from the 2023 NFL Draft class was rated before the season began. Unfortunately, a 30 injury rating suggests that this elite talent won’t be on the field much.

This got the community thinking. They began to wonder about the value of an injury rating since it effectively just rates the chance a player won’t be able to do anything for a gamer. Nevertheless, the conversation began with a surprising compliment paid towards EA Sports.

u/knowslesthanjonsnow said that they liked what EA had done, “I like that they’ve started doing variance like this.” Others echoed it, saying that they appreciated that even the best prospects can have this major question mark. In the NFL, supreme talent can’t always stay healthy, and some players carry that risk.

The player who likely will spend a good bit of his fictional NFL career on the Injured Reserve drew tons of comparisons to NFL stars. Von Miller of the Buffalo Bills, Indianapolis Colts rookie QB Anthony Richardson, former Bills running back C.J. Spiller, former Colts QB Andrew Luck, Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa, and others drew mentions.

Another player drew a comparison to one of the most injury-prone players in all of sports, “You drafted Derrick Rose.” u/Burggs added their own experience, “I’m doing a qb franchise and the cpu gm went and drafted a 6’4” 95 speed and really good route running receiver. Super stoked. 36 injury though.” Another user mentioned that their sixth overall selection was a QB with a jarring 20 injury rating.

Nevertheless, most in the community seem to agree that this is a good addition by EA Sports. Rare plaudits from players have been shared on the subreddit, so Electronic Arts has certainly done something right this time.

That’s all for the Madden 24 injury rating discussion, but be sure to check out a recent Team of the Week release, the full Angry Runs set, and a hilarious discovery by a Bijan Robinson fan.
