This year's Summer Games Done Quick, the summer iteration of the speedrunning charity event, has wrapped up over the weekend and raised a whopping $3 million USD for charity.

This year the runners were doing their thing for the Doctors Without Borders charity, which provides international humanitarian efforts particuarly across conflict zones and countries with endemic diseases. The event saw over 2600 attendees at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Bloomington in Minneapolis in person, and countless more watching the over 180 speedruns from the event live via Twitch.

The next Games Done Quick event will be Games Done Quick Express 2019 which will take place at TwitchCon in California, followed by Awesome Games Done Quick in January 2020 in Florida, marking the tenth aniversary of the GDQ event. If you missed any of the action, you can catch up with many of the speedruns on the event's own YouTube channel.

Highlights include, for our money, the Tetris Effect speedrun which we've embedded below, which saw runner Harddrop beat the game's Journey Mode in just 34:07. It's an amazing run with almost hypnotic and mind-blowingly fast Tetris-ing (is that a verb?) action. If you're wanting to donate, you can still do so here.
