March has been a fantastic month for Steam Deck releases as two of the best games of the year are officially verified for Valve’s handheld platform. These include the wonderful Split Fiction, as well as the recently released Assassin’s Creed Shadows. While there aren’t many more new releases to anticipate this month, Steam Deck users can soon get some more free games, including an “overwhelmingly positive” RPG that will take you back in time to ancient Rome.
How to get Steam Deck free games
On March 27th, Amazon Prime Gaming is releasing their final batch of free games for March 2025. These free games are as follows:
- The Forgotten City [Amazon Games app]
- Deus Ex Invisible War [GOG code]
- Sessions Skate Sim [Epic Games store]
- Let’s Build A Zoo [Epic Games store]
- Gamedec – Definitive Edition [GOG code]
- The Wisbey Mystery [Legacy Games code]
To get the above, you will need to be an Amazon Prime subscriber. A prime subscription is £8.99 a month, but there is a free 30-day trial if you have never signed up before. Signing up to Amazon Prime bags more than just monthly games as it also provides one-day delivery as well as a subscription to Amazon’s streaming platform where you can watch a host of movies, TV shows, and occasionally live sports.
The above freebies can be picked up for Steam Deck via the Heroic Games Launcher. This is a free launcher that supports GOG, Epic Games, and Amazon Gaming.
Looking at the above list, Deus Ex Invisible War is probably the biggest name because of the Deus Ex series, but The Forgotten City is the probably the best game. It has an “overwhelmingly positive” reception on Steam, and it is an excellent RPG that lets you explore an historically authentic open-world ancient Rome as your own created character.
