Stardew Valley Expanded creator reveals massive player milestone after years of support

Stardew Valley Expanded is one of the most beloved mods for ConcernedApe’s iconic farming game. Released in 2019, the huge fan-made expansion for the game has received six years of updates to add new locations, characters, events, items and more to the game. 

With more planned for the future, alongside a new Castle Village mod that’s in the works, modder FlashShifter isn’t done with modding Stardew Valley, and it’s obvious that players aren’t done with their mods. 

Stardew Valley Expanded has more players than most full games 

Revealed in a recent Twitter post by FlashShifter, the Stardew Valley Expanded mod has been downloaded by a total of three million players over its six year lifespan. 

Since the very start of the mod right up until the last update in December 2024, the popular mod has been downloaded 3,010,332 times by unique users on Nexus Mods. Of course, this doesn’t count players who receive the mod files from friends or as an inclusion in mod packs, meaning the player count is likely even higher. 

As for the game’s total downloads from players who have re-downloaded the files after deleting (or losing) them, that’s substantially higher. At the time of writing, Stardew Valley Expanded has been downloaded an eye-watering 15,197,325 times over the past six years. 

“Stardew Valley Expanded just hit 3,000,000 players!” FlashShifter told fans online. “That’s absolutely incredible. Thank you all for your love and support over the years!”

To put this in perspective, Stardew Valley Expanded has been downloaded more times than the top Baldur’s Gate 3 mod – Baldur’s Gate 3 Mod Fixer – and just a few hundred thousands less times than the top mod for Cyberpunk 2077. 

The Stardew Valley community is not only amazing because of its size, but because of its dedication. Years of updates have only resulted in more love for FlashShifter’s Expanded mod, and the community continues to support not just the game, but other fans as well.
