Lucasfilm has revealed Star Wars: Uprising, a new RPG set between Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi and this year's The Force Awakens heading to mobile devices this autumn.

Developed by social games studio Kabam, Star Wars: Uprising promises to introduce a new chapter in the Star Wars universe set after the Battle of Endor and the death of Darth Vader, and allow players to compete in "large-scale sector-wide battles that dictate the future of the game universe".

Players will be able to create their own character and customise them with "iconic" Star Wars gear, unlock hundreds of new abilities and build a crew to help them fight against the Empire alone or in real-time co-op with friends in battles set on Hoth and Cloud City.

"Star Wars: Uprising is a deep role playing game (RPG) experience that will immerse players in the Star Wars universe during a unique time following the fall of Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine," said Kabam's senior vice president of action and role-playing games Aaron Loeb. "The Kabam RPG Studio has taken its collective experience and passion for role playing games to focus on creating a unique and immersive gameplay experience for Star Wars fans and RPG gamers around the world."

A beta is scheduled to begin within the coming weeks, with a full release due on iOS and Android this autumn. If you're interested, you can sign up for the beta over on the game's website.
