GSC Game World’s Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is not the most polished game. While major updates have restored some A-Life functionality and fixed core issues, there’s still a fair few issues. With Stalker Infinity, one modder is aiming to massively improve the survival game with a host of fixes and changes to make it more enjoyable.
Stalker Infinity aims to fix Stalker 2
Created by modder Inf_solv, Stalker Infinity is the result of months of fan tweaking to fix bugs and overhaul progression, weapon economy and more.
“Just a few days after release I went on a journey to fix everything I didn’t like, and for four months I didn’t stop until I was fully satisfied with the result,” the modder wrote on Nexus.
One of the biggest changes with Stalker Infinity is the way that stashes work with a “new complex system” determining what can be found within stashes. Instead of predetermined loot, a random backpack could hide an amazing wealth of supplies, and a hard-to-find box might just have beans.
“Each stash has a certain chance to be full of rare loot, but no stash is guaranteed to shower you with items,” the modder explains.
In the bid to rebalance the game, players can no longer find endgame-capable weapons in early parts of the Zone. Instead, progression has been completely changed with placements of endgame items moving towards endgame areas. Of course, you can still grab some high-end gear if you know where to go, but you’ll have a much harder time getting it.
Alongside an entirely rebalanced economy, the Stalker 2 mod also overhauls combat. Stalker Infinity boasts “close to real-life ballistics simulation” with proper bullet drop off, dispersion even when in ADS, much higher damage from single bullets, realistic armour defense and ammo weight, and much more.
Additionally, the game’s Artifacfs have been completely changed. There are a tonne of new effects with some “so great you won’t want to sell them”. As expected, you’ll also need to have a great detector to find some of these powerful new tools, but they will offer much better rewards.
To play Stalker Infinity, you will have to start a brand new save to do so. Due to the sheer amount of changes, the mod isn’t compatible with standard game files, but they’re such great changes you won’t mind. With no New Game plus coming to the game, we’re constantly starting new games anyway.
