Insomniac Games confirms Spider-Man 2 will not have co-op

Insomniac Games has now confirmed that Spider-Man 2 will not have a co-op mode and will instead be a single-player game. This revelation from the video game developer comes after Miles Morales voice actor Nadji Jeter recently let slip during a SacAnime convention panel that the upcoming superhero sequel would feature a multiplayer offering.

The announcement from Insomniac came in the form of a response to a Twitter user named Sean Lia. Lia, who asked on the social media site whether Spider-Man 2 was going to be a co-op game, got a response from the developer that simply said the following: “Nope! It is an epic single-player adventure.” With this in mind, Nadji Jeter’s alleged teaser may have just been a slight misunderstanding as it seems unlikely that a multiplayer mechanic is going to be included.

A large number of fans were relieved upon hearing that Spider-Man 2 would be a single-player game as many were initially confused at the sudden transition to a co-op mode. However, there are a few players, such as Sean Lia, that were disappointed as they were hoping that they would be able to play a split-screen adventure with Peter Parker and Miles Morales fighting side-by-side.

With that said, the timely announcement from Insomniac comes as a slight surprise since the massive May 2023 PlayStation showcase is reportedly going to include more details on the next series installment. It may even contain an exact Spider-Man 2 release date as well since a specific time frame is yet to be disclosed at the time of writing.
