The Spider-Man 2 launch date has finally been revealed by Insomniac Games and the web-slinging sequel’s launch is currently slated for October 20, 2023. Additionally, the box art for the game was also exhibited during this time, which featured both Miles Morales and Peter Parker swinging side by side.

Aside from the follow-up’s release date being announced and the sick box art included, however, nothing further was revealed regarding its gameplay as most of the showcase’s Spider-Man 2 segment merely featured a short interview with Brian Intihar. However, the creative director did have a few interesting insights into the game that he was able to share with Geoff Keighley and the rest of the audience.

According to Intihar, the Venom that players will encounter in the sequel will not be Eddie Brock because the studio’s goal this time around “was to tell an original story.” Even though the character will still display its typical inhumane characteristics throughout the story, this version of the villainous symbiote will apparently be “something you haven’t seen in the comics or the movies yet.”

Unfortunately, nothing further about the gameplay was exhibited, but with the exciting follow-up set to launch during the latter half of the year, we can surely expect more information to be dropped soon. In the meantime, if you want to learn more about the game, then we recommend listening to the Brian Intihar interview conducted during the showcase.
