SoulCalibur V is set for a 2012 launch, but it appears fans can also look forward to past games in the series re-released as digital downloads.

A message on Twitter from Soul Calibur V's game director, Daishi Odashima read: "We are thinking of releasing past SC series as DLC."

We assume that when Odashima says DLC he's referring to putting out the games as downloadable titles, and given the recent trend of HD versions of previous generation classics it wouldn't be a surprise to see some kind of SoulCalibur HD collection.

An HD version of the Dreamcast's SoulCalibur was released for Xbox LIVE Arcade in July 2008, but lacked online play. An updated version with online multiplayer would be well received.
