A VG247 source, said to be highly placed, has revealed that Sony plans to announce a premium PSN service at E3 next month.

A host of new features will be offered at an annual cost of “less than £50”, with subscribers also being offered one free PSN game each month; the game’s will come from a specific selection each month.

Sony also has plans to announce a streaming music service, although it’s not clear if this will be part of the premium service.

Importantly, the source was adamant that nothing in the premium PSN service will “gimp regular PSN users”, meaning we can expect free online gaming to remain. In that vein, the source also confirmed that cross-game voice chat – a feature often rumoured for PSN – will not be restricted to premium members.

Besides a free game each month, what other features would you want for around £50 a year? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
