Sony has confirmed that there will be a “fairly wide supply” of PlayStation 4 stock available in stores tomorrow to customers who have not already pre-ordered the console.
Speaking to Digital Spy about tomorrow’s launch, SCE UK MD Fergal Gara said: “The great news is, even if you haven’t pre-ordered, there is stock landing in the market today for tomorrow, that enables people to come in off the street and purchase a unit.
“It’ll be a fairly wide supply for non-pre-ordered stock.”
While the extra stock will come as good news to those hoping to walk into a shop tomorrow and pick up a console, that Sony is so openly discussing the fair amount of free stock will come as a disappointment to second wave pre-order customers who may be locked into their pre-order for delivery at a later date.
Second wave pre-order customers do not appear to be given priority over free stock at launch, with the stock instead being available on a first-come first-serve basis.
Stock will be available to non-pre-order customers across the country from midnight tonight at hundreds of Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Argos and GAME stores.
