Sega has put out some new footage of upcoming remaster Sonic Colours Ultimate in action, this time re-introducing us to the game’s Wisps.

In case you never played the original release, the Wisps are an alien race from the Planet Wisp that help Sonic and friends in their adventure. Each of these brightly-coloured Wisps infers a different ability or power on our favourite blue hedgehog.

Firstly the White Wisp accelerates your boost gauge, allowing Sonic to go even faster and bust through obstacles and enemies. The Cyan Wisp meanwhile transforms Sonic into a laser that lets him zap enemies and flash between crystals. Jade Wisps turn the Blue Blur into a ghost and phase through solid objects to reach previously inaccessible areas. Meanwhile the Pink Wisp allow you to transform into a Pink spike that can roll up walls and across ceilings.

Green Wisps give Sonic the ability to hover in mid-air, avoiding obstacles. Orange Wisps on the other hand transform Sonic into a giant Orange Rocket allowing him to soar into the air. There’s also Blue Wisps which switch special rings and blocks to open new routes in a level. Then there’s Yellow Wisps which can turn Sonic into a drill. Finally, Purple Wisps will turn Sonic into a ravenous purple monster that eats anything in his path.

You can get a glimpse at all these Wisps in action in the video below. Sonic Colours Ultimate is set for launch on September 7 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
