Upcoming kung-fu action game Sifu is out next week, and they’ve gone a little bit different for their launch trailer.

Developer Sloclap has partnered with director Christopher Clark Cowan to release a short live action film version of the game. At nine minutes long, it’s longer than your average live action trailer, but gives you a great idea of what to expect from the game when it arrives.

To catch you up, Sifu sees you take the role of a young kung-fu student who’s father is brutally murdered. Naturally, you’re out for revenge, and you’ll be using your martial arts skills as you take on your foes. Eventually, you’ll track down the assassin and make him pay. However, you also have the power of a magical amulet that can revive you from death, at the cost of years of your life.

We get to see some of that play out in this trailer, with some top-notch kung-fu action taking place in a couple of game-inspired locations, like a dingy warehouse. Things get dicey for our hero when he goes up against one man with a particularly large knife, but you’ll have to watch to see how it plays out.

Sifu will be upon us next week, set for launch on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC on February 8. A physical version is also on the way later this Spring.
