Developer Yacht Club Games has announced that new Shovel Knight campaign Shovel Knight: King of Cards and brawler spin-off Shovel Knight Showdown will both be releasing on December 10.

The pair of titles were first announced to be coming at the end of this year back in August, with King of Cards focusing on King Knight and contains an entire card-based mini-game along similar lines to The Witcher 3’s Gwent. It’s promised to be the ‘grandest’ campaign yet, with more levels, secrets and features than any other Shovel Knight campaign before it.

Shovel Knight Showdown meanwhile is a multiplayer and singleplayer brawler that pits several of the series’ favourite characters against each other in a manner not too dissimilar to Towerfall: Acension or Super Smash Bros.

Both games will be available in the upcoming Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove release, which will include every Shovel Knight game so far, so that’s five of them – Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope, Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows, Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment, Shovel Knight: King of Cards, and Shovel Knight Showdown.

As per the announcement, both the two individual titles and the new Shovel Knight Treasure Trove bundle will release on December 10 both digitally and physically on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch – although sadly, due to ‘unforeseen manufacturing issues’ the PS4 physical release has been delayed into early 2020. You can check out a couple of trailers for the new games below.
