Shining Resonance: Refrain, an enhanced version of the PS3 JRPG originally confirmed for Japan, will be hitting stores in the west this summer, Sega’s announced. While the initial news only relates to the PS4 version, Game Informer has heard there will also be a Switch release.

Shining Resonance first launched on the PS3 back in 2014, and has the distinction of being the only traditional RPG instalment in the venerable franchise to hit Sony’s last-generation console.

As per the norm with any spruced up video game release, fans can expect the title to look and play better thanks to enhanced visuals and resolution, while there’s also a new scenario that examines an alternate take on the game’s storyline.

Hats off to Sega for committing to a western release though. The Shining series has traditionally been a niche Japanese affair, and therefore the company is known for being reticent when it comes to localising the games. Let’s hope other franchises will receive the same treatment down the line.

Shining Resonance: Refrain is scheduled for a Japanese release on March 29.
