Sony has revealed the first PlayStation 4 Pro footage of the Shadow of the Colossus remake, which is due for release in 2018. Unlike Shadow of the Colossus HD which came out on PS3, this is a from the ground up remake of the game, and it looks lovely. The game will also run in 4K on the PS4 Pro console, so if you’ve got one of those you’re in for a visual treat.

Sony’s Worldwide Studios president, Shuhei Yoshida, confirmed at E3 2017 that the Shadow of the Colossus PS4 game was a proper remake, saying that, ‘The game content is the same as the original version but all the assets are being remade.’

While the game will be a remake of the entirety of the original the game’s creator, Fumito Ueda, had spoken about the project saying that he’d suggested some changes that should be made the original, but he wouldn’t say what exactly.

Texan developer Bluepoint, has previously remastered Shadow of the Colossus and Ico in HD for the PS3. Bluepoint has history when it comes to delivering excellent ports of games, from its stellar work on the Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection through to Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection. It’s safe to say if you want something doing right, you get Bluepoint on board.

Shadow of the Colossus is due out in 2018 exclusively on the PS4
