Sega pulls Judgment from sale in Japan in wake of actor’s arrest for alleged drug use

Judgment, the upcoming detective brawler set in the Yakuza universe, has been pulled from sale in Japan after actor Pierre Taki was arrested for drug use in his native Tokyo.

As reported by Japanese news outlet The Mainachi, Taki – who plays Yakuza Kyohei Hamura in the game – was arrested late last night after his home was searched based on several tip-offs and later transferred to a police station in Tokyo's Koto Ward on Wednesday after a urine test which turned up traces of cocaine.

Sega in Japan issued a brief statement later translated by Kotaku saying that they were removing the game from sale from both retail and digital outlets while the investigation is ongoing; drugs charges are very serious business in Japan, and if found guilty Taki could be facing a very lengthy prison sentence.

Sega has even gone so far as to remove tweets on Judgment, as per a tweet from their Japanese account along with the statement.
