If you’ve ever looked at your Steam library filled with hundreds of unplayed games and wondered how much you’ve spent over the past two decades, you’re in luck.

As it turns out, there’s a secret page on the Steam Store that tells you exactly how much money you’ve spent on your account. From your very first account activation for Half-Life 2 all the way to your latest purchase of a Steam Deck verified game you’ll play five minutes of, every Steam purchase has been tracked.

Hey, at least Metro 2033 is free right now. If only I didn’t buy it years ago.

Find out how much you’ve spent on Steam

As expected of Valve, there is a very easy way to find out the total amount of money spent on the Steam Store. However, it’s hidden behind a tonne of nested menus that most people would never think to look through.

Thanks to one investigative fan, you can find out just how much you’ve spent on the PC marketplace by following these steps:

  • Navigate to the Help menu
  • Click on Steam Support
  • Click on My Account
  • Select Data Related To Your Steam Account
  • Click External Funds Used

Of course, this is only tracking games purchased through Steam. Any bundles purchased via Humble Bundle or Fanatical or keys purchased from third-party sellers won’t turn up here, so you’ve likely spent more than the value that shows in this menu.

I’m not going to tell you how much I’ve spent on my Steam account, and I’m going to hope my partner never finds this article and asks me to check. It’s too much, and that’s not counting the fact that I love a cheeky Humble Bundle.

Let’s be honest, at the end of the day this just shows how convenient and trusted Valve’s Steam Store is. But I also hope there’s no way of checking this value on my Xbox, PlayStation or Nintendo account because that would destroy me.
