Xbox boss Phil Spencer was recently interviewed by Japanese website GameWatch (via DualShockers) about the ill-fated Scalebound, which was cancelled late last year.

Spencer spoke very highly of the team at PlatinumGames that was heading up development, saying Microsoft learned a lot from the studio throughout the process. But because Scalebound was announced so early in development, fans voiced their opinion on what they wanted to see, which then apparently influenced the game’s development.

Both Microsoft and Platinum came to an agreement afterwards that they were unsure if fans’ desires would be met in the long run, so they cancelled the game.

PlatinumGames’ most recent original title, NieR: Automata, came to both PlayStation 4 and PC. But by the sounds of what Spencer said in this interview, Microsoft is eager to work with the Japanese dev in the future. We’ll just wait and see.
