Square Enix has announced it’ll be releasing Romancing SaGa – Minstrel Song – Remastered on PlayStation, Switch and PC later this year.

The RPG is the latest in Square Enix’s ambition to remaster the classic SaGa RPG series of the 90s. So far, their efforts have included several other titles in the series, including last year’s remaster of SaGa Frontier. Now it’s the turn of the fourth game in the series, first released just as ‘Romancing Saga‘ in 1992 for the Super Famicom.

The game subsequently had a remake for the PlayStation 2 in 2005 under the name Minstrel Song. (This explains the slightly convoluted title.) However, that was only released in Japan and North America, so it’ll be the first time the game has made it in any form to Europe. You’ll get to choose from one of eight protagonists, with each having their own storylines and goals.

Of course, players can expect plenty of new improvements and additions to bring the game into a state befitting 2022. These include both gameplay tweaks and remastered graphics. Fans of the series can rest assured however, that it’ll retain the Glimmer and Combo systems from previous entries in the SaGa series.

You can check out a trailer for the remaster down below. Romancing SaGa – Minstrel Song – Remastered will arrive on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC and iOS & Android this Winter.
