Riot Games retain forced arbitration clause despite employee walkouts

Riot Games has responded to last week's employee walkouts in protest of the company's forced arbitration policies that meant workers had to waive their right to sue the company. Alas, it seems the developer is standing firm on its stance for the duration of a current set of gender descrimination cases the company is battling.

In a statement to Bloomberg (spotted by GamesIndustry.biz) released last night after a meeting with employees at its LA headquarters, representatives for Riot Games said 'Ultimately, given the complexities of ongoing litigation, we will not change our employee agreements while in active litigation. We know not everyone agrees with this decision, but we also know everyone does want Riot to continue to improve.'

The company does still intend to resolve these policies after the current cases are over, but for now those cases and current employees will not be covered by these changes in policy. Riot also say that they will create a new council on diversity and inclusion and have invited 'a diverse group' of employees to review aspects of Riot's exsisting code of conduct.

The organisers of the walkout are yet to respond.
