Many took umbrage with the fact there were no video streaming apps available on the Nintendo Switch at launch. Speaking with The Washington Post, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has stated that Nintendo wanted Switch owners to focus on the games, rather than binge-watching Crazy Ex Girlfriend.

Fils-Aime said ‘we built the Nintendo Switch to be a world-class gaming device, meaning we want you first and foremost to play games on the system and have an incredibly fun experience,’ before adding that Nintendo is in talks with Hulu, Amazon, and Netflix, to bring those services to their system.

While Fils-Aime, in the interview, states that things like Netflix aren’t what differentiates Nintendo from their competitors, it seems strange to launch a console in 2017 without any of these apps from the get-go. But they did beat Wii U’s launch sales numbers, so hey, maybe Reggie’s onto something.
