2 million PlayStation 4 consoles have been sold in the UK, according to a report by industry site MCV.
The milestone follows just 8 months after it was announced that the console had sold 1 million units, and suggests that PS4 sales may actually be accelerating in the UK. 1 million PS4 consoles were sold in the country within its first 42 weeks on sale, reaching 2 million just 33 weeks later.
The figure brings total worldwide sales of the console to 22.3m, and follows shortly after GAME revealed that over 3 million current-gen consoles had been sold in the UK.
“Reaching the milestone of two million PlayStation 4 consoles in the UK in less than 18 months is an achievement we are very proud of,” PlayStation UK chief Fergal Gara told the site.
PS4 is reportedly the UK’s best-selling games console so far in 2015. Microsoft hasn’t updated its sales figures since November.
